Piece Description
Gust (2008) is a self-solo that embodies personal determination and perseverance during difficult times. The movement vocabulary ranges from patterns of idiosyncratic gesture in isolated body parts, to driven kicking,turning,rolling, and jumping. The sudden dynamic shifts express a tension between moments of contained emotion versus instances when memories or circumstance flood forth. Original music for the piece was composed by Cassie Norton and performed by the Incredibly Clever Flying String Quartet.
