Work in progress showing at the Experimental Media & Movement Arts Lab, December 2011
Choreography/Video/Sound: Teoma Naccarato
Performer: Meredith Hurst
Piece Description:
“Retrace, reroute, replace” explores the interaction of a performer with recorded and live video, in the parallel sites of stage and screen. The solo was developed through reflections on emotional and physical presence and absence; the potency of memory to suspend me between past-present-future experiences; and the conflict/resistance/weight of this process. In creating this solo Naccarato questioned what we choose to reveal or conceal about ourselves in relationships and performance, as well and why and how. The soundtrack of intimate and “taboo” questions is at once intrusive or inviting, encouraging the audience to wonder about the performer, intimately.
